i took two out first..they were the bottom ones. it actually didn't really hurt for me ...although the day that i had it removed i fainted because i wasn't putting ice on it, but i mean i didn't have to take tylenol 3's or any other pain meds... it really depends on the person, whether it hurts or not..but then again..my dentist was awesome too..
had 2 of mine taken by surgery when i was really young..haha..i think my orthosurgeon told my mom that i was his youngest patient. didn't hurt though but went on a liquid diet for 2 wks and i looked like a chipmunk.
I'm afraid of having wisdom tooth. I don't have any yet probably later in life but looking at this forum, I'm getting this feeling that it's not pretty and it definitely hurts should I pull it off once it starts growing? -shock

Every time my wisdom teeth grew, my gums would be sore. My wisdom teeth were so big that they were rubbing against my cheeks, causing the skin there to tear. So I had to take them out. The first two that I took out, I went to a dentist who did not do a very good job. He didn't wait for the novacaine to set in before he yanked them out. I bled for 8 hours afterwards and couldn't eat or drink or do anything but keep changing the gauze pads. It was a horrible experience. Then, I had an extra tooth grow right next to my other wisdom tooth, so, I had that pulled out along with the wisdom tooth. The dentist I went to this time was awesome. He gave me a few shots of vicoden after he put on the topical novacaine. Then he poked my gums to see if I still felt anything. When I said I didnt, he pulled the teeth out. I didn't feel a thing, and I wasn't in pain for much longer. It healed up quickly too. Sooo, it all depends on whether or not your dentist is good & patient!
one time i was at the dentist getting my teeth pull out......i saw that huge metal needle that they use to freeze the gums.....it's so freaky i got so freaked out but they continued on =S
The best treatment for pain from wisdom teeth is sleep. Also putting hot rice wrapped in a paper towel and holding it where it hurts helps, or even frozen vegetables in plastic bags.
