Yao is the best center ever. He is quick for his size. Can't wait till the 7 feet 9 chinese player to come into the league, maybe even get drafted by the houston for then both of them on the same team. Then the team would be unstopable. two 7 feet player of the same court every night. Tmac as SG battier as SF and a PG of there choice. Can't wait to that happen(even tho it won't cuz other teams will be intreated in the 7 feet 9 player, just my fantasy lol)
are u serious``? i thought ur topic title was a joke or somefin`` yao ming..no offense, is pretty embarrassing compared to other bball players...and he's not da best centre`` he will improve i hope`` u only think he's good cos ur most likely to be chinese ( i am too) and all dat country pride blinds us from reality`` love` mon
i hate it when noobs throw in random comments they know nothing about so get ur facts together and we're talkin centers for some of you... not "forward" centers anways i watch all the rockets game and his presence in the paint is huge! not many people dare to drive in so teams have to play the shooting game. If you've been up to date yao his been doin lotsa clutch performances and hes been averaging 25 points per game. The nearest center is not even close to yao. this isn't 2002, if u haven't already heard yao's the next big center. Shaq is fading away as he ages he only scores half of what he used to. people expected yao to come over to america and score 25+ per game but thats not how it went. He played china ball ,diff culture, basketball is all about communication so he got to learn the language, lingos and game plays. Anyways hes improving big as he learns. Right now Yaos been out with a foot injury for the past couple months so not much news on him but should return sometime in march. Yao Ming this season 25.9 Points Per Game 9.4 Rebounds Per Game -rockon The amazing thing is Yao don't need 30 shots per game to score that much! hes an excellent shooter.
With Ben Wallace slipping in performance and Andrei Kirilenko suffering from a bad season, I think we can safely say that Yao Ming is at least the best "defensive" center. Of course...... the injury really doesn't let us judge well.
Amare Stoudemire is the #1 center in the league, althought he's more fit to be a PF. Hes so strong and quick and skilled in the post and hes a great shooter around the perimeter. Hes got tremendous heart and determination to dominate that just puts him at a whole other level.
yoa.. is good .. the nba made shit load of money off from him.. but as fas as playin' the game ..he needs to add size (is easy to be said than done)... and improve his rebound skill..
the best defensive center is tyson chandler because he is now doing everything ben wallace did back in detroit. the best offensive center is yao ming
Yao gets my vote as the best center in the league tight now. Though that's not saying much as his competition is pretty slim. All the recent dominant big-men have either retired (David Robinson, Hakeem, Ewing) or have gotten old and injury-prone (Shaq). The only other good centers right now are Amare Stoudemire (technically a center on the Suns), Marcus "Cotton" Camby, Ben Wallace, Mehmet Okur, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Brad Miller, Tyson Chandler and Dwight Howard. I consider Tim Duncan and Jermaine O'Neal as more power forwards than centers.
Hi guys, good discussion so far. I would say Yao is the best center in the NBA right now, and I don't see any competition at his position for at least another 5 years. The only thing I worry about is if he can stay healthy enough to last that long because he is injury prone and his big frame does not help the joints on his knees and hips. Remember before his injury he was the leading candidtate for MVP. But to prove his legend, he has to make it deep and far into the playoffs and hopefully one day win the championship.
in todays league hes gettin close , but thats cause the centers today are pretty bad, they just arent like the ones bak in the day
I agree...Yao has become more aggressive and probably one of the top 5 centres in the league...he's up there with Shaq!
