I have been wondering, is Dan tart originally chinese? There are also Portuguese egg tarts for example which looks very similar
i love Egg Tarts occasionally.. sometimes i hate it. I dont like the ones from 'Yum Cha', the ones from Bakery are soo much better! I like the crust to be more cookie-ish... "Ngau Yau Pay" i think that's what it's called.
I love egg tarts. There is this bakery in Manhattan Chinatown that is called King Custard that makes different flavors. Even ones with just the egg whites for people who have high cholesterol. It is so good when you eat it while it's still warm.

i luv dan tart (egg tarts) but only can get the chinese way in london, which is an hour train journey. :( so dont get to eat it that much, so i buy basic short crust pastry egg tarts from sainsbury but still not the same
I love dan tart. If I'm in Chinatown or chinese bakery. I buy a couple and if i'm in HK I try it from different bakery's and resaurants or I make them myself (It's not difficult)
