^ She was previously photographed by celebrity portraitist (for a spread in Vogue US a few years back, photographer probably is either Irving Penn or Steve Meisel... Although Michael Thompson sounds like an informed guess) in her Geisha outfit, in which Gong Li was also featured. THAT was one nice editorial... This one, really, is nothing to write home about. Plus, she had been ON the cover of Vanity Fair (with Tobey Maguire if I recall correctly) back in the days of Couching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. She can definitely do better than awful-looking portraits like these ones, and yeah, Vanity Fair would have been able to work wonders on these actors. But guess they didn't bother swinging their magic wand for Zhang.
